Day 1 Primal Challenge

Today was the day! The start of my Primal Blueprint 30 day challenge. Starting out my weight is 181. I stand about 5'6", so that makes me FAT. Can't find my Tape measure but as soon as I do I will post my circumference.

This morning I was a little anxious. Not that giving up pasta and bread would be hard, but that giving up all grains would be. There are grains in everything as I look around. I looked the other day at a convenience store for a primal snack. Besides some beef jerky that was laden in chemicals, there was nothing remotely primal. Not a piece of fruit nor stick of cheese. I decided to hold off until I got home.

So I started the day feeling great. I woke refreshed and felt like working out. I went to the YMCA and hit the equipment. A few weeks ago, before going primal, I paid a personal trainer to set up a program for me. Today was the first day I did it alone. It took me a long time (about an hour) but I think it was because it was the first time. I think it should take me about 35 minutes when I get used to it.

Then I tried a class I have never tried before, Power Groove. I am not very coordinated and was totally lost. I don't do well with 'girl' workouts where you have choreography. This class was like country line dancing but with Latin and hip hop music.

Food today:
  • scrambled eggs
  • bacon
  • orange
  • fruit and walnut salad from McD's minus the walnuts
  • cheese
  • steak
  • green beans
Doesn't seem like much, but I wasn't that hungry. I think my biggest meal was breakfast where I ate a lot of bacon.

I found it very hard to choose something to eat at McDonald's. I asked what was in the smoothie, and the girl behind the counter told me the flavors. I asked again for the ingredient and she said 'some kind of syrup'. How can you serve food everyday to people and not know what is in it?

I am going to try to follow all the rules in the Primal Blueprint but each day I will emphasize one, so I can master the concept. Personal challenge for tomorrow, I am going to tackle challenge #2 from MarkDailyApple, "Avoid Poisonous Things". I will purge my home of of the garbage. I will toss out all the non-primal foods in my pantry. No chips, cookies, pasta, ect. As mark says I will "purge your pantry, your fridge and your life of all the junk that has no place in your body."
