Paleo Weight Loss Mistake Part 2

I have had a lot of people on Twitter message me about my weight loss mistake that I was making. They say they aren't eating nuts and still cant lose weight. The problem may be that they are eating too much.

I know, I joined up with the paleo movement because I wasn't counting calories and can't sustain counting calories for more than a day. Besides that, counting calories isn't how we are supposed to eat. And I am totally not suggesting it. As a matter of fact, I want you  to lose the "diet journal" all together. I have some simple, really simple rules for you to follow that will make you lose weight. These rules worked for me before I was primal and made me eat primal before I knew what that was.

Wendy's Not-So-Natural Fries

Last Fall the Wendy's fast food chain restaurant introduced us all to it's natural cut french fries. Turns out the "natural cut" is not so natural after all. The only difference between these fries and the previous version is that they skip peeling them. After they are cut, they are doused with sodium acid pyrophosphate, a chemical that prevents them from turning brown because they get fried twice, at the factory and at the restaurant. They are also dusted with dextrose for the same reason. The oil that they get fried in, contains dimethylpolysiloxane, a chemical to prevent foaming after many many uses.

Paleo Weight Loss Mistake

A few months ago, I was having a hard time. I was eating too much and sometimes I was eating the wrong things. I was in a self-destructive rut. One morning, I awoke to find my self 20 pounds heavier. Time to regroup and get myself right.

I did a pantry walk through, got rid of the few things that were in there that were unpaleo. There were very few things in the pantry.I still shopped right even though I wasn't eating right. Lots of trip to fast food. I joined the gym so I would do more movement until mud season is over. Then I went shopping.

Cheese, Quality Counts

If you are a paleo person, you may want to look away from this post because it is all about cheese. I know, some of you are yelling at me that cheese is not paleo, and I understand the way you think. But let me paint a little picture. Your dark skinned ancestors have moved across the planet. The have move to the far east, up and over the land bridge that connected Russia to Alaska, they have move to the far north in Europe.

The move was so very long ago that skin pigments have changed to adjust to the lack of sunlight. They have turned a lighter color to absorb more sunlight for the production of vitamin D. These lighter skinned people live in a cold brutal world where vegetables don't grow more than 6 month of the year. They have learned to keep animals for food and can hold fish frozen in the ice for later. Sometimes they dig up tubers in the hard ground. They have also learned that dairy is available through the cold winter months to aid in their survival. We developed a tolerance for it, still it was better for the body in fermented forms like yogurt and cheeses.
